Estates Design & Technical Services (EDTS)

We are a construction and design team who create and develop facilities for NHS services operated by Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. From minor repairs to major developments, our mission is to provide built environment that supports outstanding patient care. We have a reputation for tackling difficult projects that have failed to be resolved by others or appear too complex to be tackled by organisations outside of the NHS.

Our team of architects, surveyors, technicians, and engineers manages projects from feasibility through to handover and commissioning. When required, the team provides capital programme management to keep work within budget, delivers regular finance and board updates, and collaborates closely with clients and services throughout strategic planning and to completion.

History

EDTS was established in 1990 following the creation of NHS Trusts and the disbanding of the District Works Department. It started off as part of East Berkshire NHS Trust before being moved to Berkshire Shared Services, providing in-house services to the Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in Berkshire. EDTS later became part of Berkshire Healthcare’s Estates and Facilities service in 2013, following the closure of Berkshire Shared Services.
